Hosting an Inbound Rotary Youth Exchange Student
Information for families

Hosting is an incredible opportunity to see the difference our programme makes in the lives of young people.

It is a compulsory expectation that any Outbound Student applying to go overseas can host for two periods of four months either before they go or whilst they are overseas.

Rotary Students in NZ

Hosting an inbound exchange student is a wonderful opportunity where families relish in the opportunity to share our culture with another young person. In return, they learn a new culture and get to know a new family from across the world.

Hosting a student enables us to keep the costs of our programme down. There is no monetary exchange for hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. We ask families to open their homes (and hearts) to a young person just as a family overseas will do for your student.

Students live with their host family for a period of four months and move to three families during their year. They stay at the same school and are hosted by the same Rotary Club. This gives the student stability and a constant support network.

All adults in the house (over 18 years) are Police Vetted to ensure the safety of our student.

Students are expected to act as regular family members contributing to normal household chores. Students are required to have their own bedroom.

We will cover more detail in our information session but please get in touch if you'd like to know more or have further questions. We've attached our hosting pamphlet here too!
