The Cost

Personal Profile

Going overseas is an exciting opportunity and whilst a student is home hosted (with no board paid) it is approximately $24,000 - $27,000 NZD.

The costs include;

Flights (open airfares)

Travel Insurance

Visas

2x compulsory weekends in preparation for departure

2x compulsory one day workshops

Administration 

Uniform items

Cost of a "Euro" Tour or equivalent (usually 2 - 3 week trip)

Day to day living costs

Emergency Fund

These costs are spread over a 15-18month period.

We encourage students to help fundraise or get a part-time job to help contribute towards their lifechanging year abroad!

August - December 2024

Registration Cost

This is a non-refundable registration fee of $125 which goes towards the administration of reviewing your application. 

January/February 2025

Selection Weekend Cost

If you are successful in your initial application you will be invited to our Selection Weekend at a cost of approximately $200. If a student withdraws within 3 weeks prior to Selection Weekend this payment is still due.

April 2025

Application Fee

Once confirmed and accepted as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student there is a cost of $1,500 which covers your travel deposit and contribution to our weekends.

July 2025

Orientation Weekend

This is a compulsory weekend for a student and at least one adult. Cost is envisaged to be approximately $300 per person.

August - October 2025

Flight Payment, Marae Weekend and Visa Information

This is an approximate cost of $5,000 towards flights/stopover, Marae Weekend and visa processing.

January 2026

Departure

Once our students have arrived in country there is occasionally a language camp, deposit for their Euro Tour (or equivalent) due and they need approximately $500NZD (in local currency) as an emergency fund. This is refunded nearer the end of their exchange.
